Samburu National Reserve is situated at the southern corner of Samburu District in Rift Valley Province of Kenya. It is bordered to the south by ewaso Nyiro River, Which separates it from the buffalo springs National reserve.
The reserve covers an area of 165 Km square and is located around 345 Km from Nairobi.
The reserve les within ecological zone V- which is classified as arid and semi-arid with moisture index of 42 to 57, which indicate that evapotranspiration is greater than available moisture. The days are extremely hot while the nights are cool. The annual mean temperatures range between 18 degrees and 30 degrees while the mean annual rainfall is 354 mm with peaks in November and april. The dry season starts in late May, and goes up to early October during when large concentration of wildlife is found in the reserve due to availability of lush vegetation along Ewaso Nyiro River, then main source of water to the reserve and the nearby communities.
Day 1; Nairobi – Maasai Mara
Leave Nairobi at 9.00 am via the Great Rift valley for Maasai Mara game Reserve, picnic lunch and game drive en route . Dinner and over night at the camp.
Day 2 & 3 MAASAI MARA
Two full days of game viewing. The black –manned lion, leopard, cheetah and Buffalo c an be seen.
All meals and overnight at the campsite / lodge.
DAY 4: MAASAI MARA /NAIROBI
After breakfast proceed to Nakuru . A hot or picnic of the lunch en route with stop over for panoramic views Nakuru in the lake afternoon. Dinner and over night at Nakuru camp /lodge.
Day5: Nakuru / Samburu
6.303 : pre- breakfast game drive in lake Nakuru national park ,noted for its huge concentration of flamingos. Besides birds, it is possible to see small game like water Buck, impala, Rhino and Buffalo in the garden surroundings. After breakfast, leave for Samburu , lunch and game drive en route.
Day 6: SAMBURU
Morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu Reserve. Lunch and leisure break between 1.00pm and 4.00pm . All meals and overnight at the camp/ lodge.
Day 7: Samburu / Mt. Kenya
Proceed for a morning game drive after breakfast at the followed by departure for Nanyuki to arrive in the afternoon. After lunch, visit the Mau Mau caves at the foot of Mt. Kenya where the freedom fighters used to hide . Dinner and overnight at a budget at the camp / lodge in Nanyuki.
Day 8: Mt. Kenya / Amboseli
Depart Nanyuki after breakfast for Amboseli National park via Nairobi for lunch. Have a game drive en route to the camp . Dinner & overnight at the camp/ lodge
Day 9: Amboseli
6.30 am proceed for an early morning pre-breakfast game drive. Return to the camp for breakfast . After breakfast proceed for a further game drive . Lunch at the camp / lodge 3.30 pm late afternoon game drive returning to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Amboseli / Tsavo West
Early morning proceed for your last game drive as you leave camp for Tsavo west National park game viewing and lunch en route on arrival in Tsavo set up camp . Dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Tsavo West /Tsavo East
Visit the mzima springs en route to Tsavo East National park where hippos and crocodile can be seen swimming in the clear water .
Afternoon game drive in Tsavo East National park set after setting the camp meals and overnight at camp /lodge.
Day 12: Tsavo East / Nairobi
8.30 am ,After breakfast proceed for a game drive . After lunch leave for Nairobi.
